There are many benefits to a consistent self-care routine, including better relationships and increased mental, physical, and spiritual health. However, due to the wrongful perception that self-care must involve lots of time, money, and energy (AKA spa-day), many skip it altogether. While we’ll never say no to a spa day out, self-care at home can be just as fulfilling! Here are some self-care treatments you can whip together at home, with ingredients you probably already have!

Body Scrubs

If you’ve never made a body scrub before, prepare to be mind-blown. Body scrubs are just about the easiest things to make and will leave your skin feeling soft and moisturized!

Here are a few options:

Coffee Scrub-

½ c Coffee Grounds

2 Tbsp Hot Water

1 Tbsp Coconut Oil (warmed) or Olive Oil

Directions:

  1. Stir ingredients together until well-combined.
  2. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.

Brown Sugar Scrub-

½ c Brown Sugar

½ c Coconut Oil (warmed) or Olive Oil

Directions:

  1. Stir ingredients together until well-combined.
  2. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.

Facemasks

After a nice scrub, consider applying a facemask. We love oatmeal face masks because of oatmeal’s anti-inflammatory properties. Plus, they’re as simple as cooking up one serving of old-fashioned oats. Here’s the recipe:

Oatmeal Face Mask-

1 Serving of Old Fashioned Oats, cooked

2 Tbsp of Honey

Directions:

  1. Stir ingredients together until well-combined.
  2. Allow to cool before applying to your face.
  3. Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse with cool water.

Another simple face mask involves avocado, which naturally hydrates dry skin.

Avocado Face Mask-

½ Avocado, mashed

1-2 tsp Honey

Directions: Stir ingredients together until well-combined. Apply to face and let sit for 20 minutes before rinsing with cool water.

Calming Tea

Our self-care day at home wouldn’t be complete without a nice warm cup of tea. We recommend any decaffeinated teas containing calming herbs like chamomile, lavender, and lemon balm. Top it off with a spoonful of honey for an antioxidant-rich natural sweetener.
